Compare Killarney with the Skibbereen option
Killarney is the Kerry centre in this guide, while Skibbereen is the cross-county alternative. The second option is useful only if you can prepare for it and arrange to attend with the right car and instructor. Ask where you can practise the skills and roads relevant to the venue, then decide whether it belongs in your alert choices.
RSA's Kerry centre finder provides current details for Killarney. Its Cork centre finder covers Skibbereen. The regional centre table lists both as separate venues. Choose from the centres offered with your booking and check their current vehicle categories before deciding.
After you have chosen a realistic shortlist, IrishDrivingTests Notify can email you about matching earlier appointments. It is a practical way to keep watch while you continue preparing. If you are focusing on Killarney, our Killarney cancellation service offers a centre-specific starting point.
Use the latest invitation information
The August 2026 CSO/RSA table publishes invitation-wait estimates for Killarney and Skibbereen. Those estimates describe the wait for an invitation to book, rather than a test appointment. Notify email alerts separately help you hear about earlier appointments that match your selected centres.
Think about the date you could take, the centre where you can practise and whether the test car can be made available. If Skibbereen is not practical for your preparation, keep Killarney as your sole choice. If your instructor supports either venue, compare both in the checker and set your preferences accordingly.
Start with Killarney and Skibbereen selected, then make your own final choice. When Notify emails an alert, use its link to MyRoadSafety to review and claim the appointment. Optional AutoBook is available separately for an existing booking and requires your authorisation.
Kenmare cancellation questions
Is Skibbereen a reasonable alternative to Killarney?
It depends on whether your instructor, test car and practice arrangements support that venue. Consider it as a cross-county option, not an automatic switch.
Can I use Notify before I have a test date?
Eligible learners can use Notify while waiting for an invitation. AutoBook needs an existing appointment and authorisation.
Where do I complete an appointment booking?
Use the link in the Notify email to open MyRoadSafety, review the details and complete the booking if it works for you.
