A north-Leitrim choice, not a county-wide default
The broader Leitrim conversation often points towards Carrick-on-Shannon, but that does not settle the best search for someone starting in Manorhamilton. Sligo is another centre to consider if your instructor and test arrangements support it. Compare the two based on where you practise, which car you will use and whether you could take a suitable date at either centre.
The RSA Leitrim centre finder and its Sligo centre finder provide current venue and vehicle-category details. RSA's regional table identifies Carrick-on-Shannon in Leitrim and Sligo in County Sligo. Choose from the centres offered with your booking, then decide which venue is realistic for your own practice.
Once you have narrowed the choice, IrishDrivingTests Notify can send email alerts for suitable earlier appointments. You can keep preparing while the service watches for a match, instead of continually revisiting the booking system. Our Sligo cancellation service is a centre-specific option if that venue suits your arrangements.
Use the invitation figures as context
The August 2026 CSO/RSA table includes published invitation-wait estimates for Sligo and Carrick-on-Shannon. They describe the estimated wait for an invitation to book, rather than a particular test date. Notify email alerts are a separate route for hearing about suitable earlier appointments.
Before choosing both centres, ask your instructor whether you can practise at each and whether the test car can be arranged. If Carrick-on-Shannon is the only workable option, a focused alert choice is sensible. If Sligo is also practical, keeping both selected gives you another location to consider when planning an earlier test.
Start with Sligo and Carrick-on-Shannon selected, then tailor your choices. When a Notify email arrives, follow its MyRoadSafety link to review and claim the appointment if it fits. Optional AutoBook is separate and requires an existing test booking and your authorisation.
