Check your local test centre
Enter a centre and see whether earlier test slots have been spotted recently.
Start with Gorey driving test monitoring if that is where your car and preparation are arranged. Add Wexford town only when you could genuinely take an appointment there. “North Wexford” describes your local context, not a separate booking category, and a county-wide search does not automatically provide the right test venue.
Our Gorey monitoring page lets you begin with a clear local selection. This guide focuses on the practical decisions behind an earlier-date search, so a found opportunity is something you can use rather than simply another date to look at.
What do you already have organised at Gorey?
If you learn locally, your instructor may have a car and preparation plan for a Gorey appointment. Ask which dates they could support, including any preparation they recommend before the test. Their normal lesson availability may not cover every potential appointment.
Check the official centre and licence category through the RSA information and MyRoadSafety. For the actual venue, use your booking confirmation. Do not treat an old map or a route video as current instructions for where to attend.
Learners coming from Courtown, Ferns or nearby communities should include car collection and the accompanying-driver arrangement in their plans. A locally convenient venue still needs a vehicle on the selected day. An earlier date does not arrange that automatically.
Make the earlier window real
Choose the first day you are eligible, prepared and able to attend as your earliest date. Check permit validity, recorded training and any applicable holding period. Those requirements remain in place when an appointment becomes available through a cancellation.
Compare that day with the test you already hold. The useful window must fall before the existing appointment. If the first day you can attend is later, revise the arrangement before starting a search that cannot provide an earlier usable result.
Save weekday restrictions around work, college and car access. It is tempting to choose every day to make the search broad, but a match is not helpful if you would immediately need to reject it. Set preferences that describe a genuine yes.
When Wexford town belongs on the shortlist
Wexford monitoring is a separate centre choice. It can be useful when you can prepare there and the car arrangement supports the appointment. It should not be selected solely because both venues share a county name.
Ask your instructor about the alternative before authorising it. Check whether they can supply the vehicle and whether additional preparation would be sensible. If you use a family car, discuss the whole appointment day with the person helping you attend.
If those arrangements do not work, stay with Gorey. A plan's allowance for several centres is optional. One local venue with realistic dates may be more relevant than two centres when most appointments at the second would be unusable.
Do not confuse flexibility with a guarantee
A broader centre list provides more selected places to watch. It does not prove there are dates available or tell you which centre will offer the quickest replacement. Historical waiting figures and other learners' experiences cannot predict your account's next opportunity.
Useful flexibility comes from dates and venues you could actually accept. Settling the vehicle and weekday arrangements can improve the search's relevance without adding another place. That is often the most practical first step.
Keep your current booking until a replacement is officially confirmed. Check the RSA's rescheduling rules, including any limits and fee consequences. Cancelling first is not a required part of starting an alert search.
Choose how to respond when a match is found
Premium provides email Notify for up to three selected centres. You can review the appointment and manage the official change yourself. Use an address you check and confirm that your MyRoadSafety sign-in is ready.
Premium Plus supports up to five centres and optional AutoBook for authorised matching changes. Consider it when the venues and date range already describe appointments you are prepared to take. It should not be used to resolve uncertainty about whether the car can travel.
The current one-time price appears in the plan selector. Monitoring is separate from the RSA fee and does not guarantee an appointment. An email notification does not hold a slot while you decide or consult somebody else.
Check which appointment was actually confirmed
Read the matched centre, date and time together before acting. After the official change succeeds, save the replacement details and tell your instructor or accompanying driver. If the venue changed, make sure the preparation changes with it.
Follow the location in the new confirmation rather than the old booking's address. A useful Gorey search should end with a sooner test you can attend, not a date that looks attractive but leaves the practical arrangements unresolved.
Gorey alert FAQs
Does a Gorey selection cover all Wexford appointments?
No. Gorey and Wexford town are separate centre choices. Add each deliberately if it is a practical option for you.
Can I monitor Gorey alone?
Yes. A single-centre search is sensible when your car and preparation are organised locally. Additional centres are optional.
Does adding Wexford guarantee a sooner date?
No. It broadens the selected venues but suitable availability is still needed. Check the vehicle and preparation before adding it.
What should I do before choosing AutoBook?
Agree the acceptable dates, centres and car arrangement first. Optional AutoBook should operate within preferences for appointments you have already authorised.
Choose your Gorey cancellation-alert search around a local appointment that works.
