If MyRoadSafety says you have a booking for a driving test, check the appointment you already hold before trying to apply again. RSA explains that this message can appear when you already have a booking in the vehicle category for which you are attempting to make a new one. It is not, by itself, confirmation that your existing test has been cancelled.
If your aim is an earlier date, the relevant question is whether your current appointment can be rescheduled. Once you have checked that, paid IrishDrivingTests.com email monitoring can watch your chosen centres and dates for alternatives. You can check IrishDrivingTests email monitoring without treating another application as the way around the message.
Applying again and changing a booking are different
A fresh application asks the RSA for another test in the selected category. Rescheduling changes an appointment you already hold. When you have a confirmed booking and want an earlier one, confusing those two routes can leave you repeatedly meeting the same message.
The useful first step is to open your existing booking, not assume you must pay another application fee or cancel the date you have. Keep the distinction clear even if you would prefer a different centre as well as a different date.
Check your local test centre
Enter a centre and see whether earlier test slots have been spotted recently.
Earlier test slots have been spotted recently. Set up alerts and we'll tell you when a matching date appears.
Find My Earlier Test from €12.99Find the appointment before deciding what to change
Sign in to your own MyRoadSafety account and review My Bookings. Check the category, date, time and centre against your confirmation. Make sure you recognise the appointment rather than guessing from the wording of the error.
The RSA's published rescheduling route is My Bookings, Manage Booking, then Reschedule booking. You select an available alternative and confirm it. For the full changing process, use the site's existing rescheduling guide alongside the current official instructions.
If you cannot recognise the booking or the account details do not match your records, use official support. A private monitoring service cannot determine what has happened inside your account from an error message alone.
Check whether changing is allowed
Finding your appointment does not mean every change will be possible or free. The RSA says a test more than ten days away can be rescheduled twice without losing the fee. A third reschedule, or one within ten days of the appointment, means losing the fee and paying for a new test.
It is not possible to reschedule within two days of the appointment. Short-notice bookings have a separate restriction: once accepted, they cannot be cancelled or rescheduled. Check which conditions apply to the booking you actually hold.
These restrictions are different from the existing-booking error. Starting another application or buying alerts does not remove them. Before searching harder, decide whether you can use a different date under the official rules.
Search for an improvement, not a second booking
Work out what would make an alternative worthwhile. That might be a date before a work commitment, a week when your instructor's car is available or an appointment at the same centre with enough preparation time. Avoid choosing dates merely because they are earlier.
Notify email monitoring can help you watch those preferences while keeping the final decision with you. If a potentially suitable opening is detected, you review whether you can act through MyRoadSafety.
AutoBook is a different service choice involving an authorised change to an existing appointment. It is not a way to create an extra same-category booking or override a restriction. Compare options only after establishing that the change you want is permitted.
Avoid turning a simple obstacle into a bigger one
Do not cancel a useful appointment just to see whether the message disappears. Cancellation and rescheduling are different actions with their own consequences. Read the applicable policy before making either decision.
If the booking shown does not match your records, resolve that with RSA support before choosing a monitoring plan. IrishDrivingTests is an independent service, not the RSA account-help team.
Frequently asked questions
Does the message mean my test has been cancelled?
Not necessarily. RSA says it can occur because you already have a booking in the same category. Check My Bookings.
Do I need another application to find an earlier date?
For a change to an existing appointment, check the rescheduling route and its conditions rather than assuming you need another application.
Should I cancel to remove the message?
Do not cancel merely to dismiss an error. First identify the appointment and understand what cancelling would mean.
Can alerts make a restricted booking changeable?
No. Monitoring can identify alternatives, but the RSA's booking conditions and your account's available actions still apply.
