The RSA says this adds you back to the invitation queue at the point where your previous invitation expired. You will receive another email when appointments become available.

Missing a driving test invitation can feel like you have lost months of waiting. The reassuring part is that the RSA provides a clear route back into the invitation queue. You should not create a second application or pay again without first checking the status of the existing one.

How long does an RSA invitation remain open?

The RSA normally gives you 10 days to select an appointment after the invitation arrives. You choose the date through MyRoadSafety rather than receiving an automatically assigned test.

How to rejoin the queue

  1. Go directly to MyRoadSafety and sign in.
  2. Open your driving test or waiting-list application.
  3. View the current application status.
  4. Select Rejoin Queue or the Rejoin option shown in your account.
  5. Confirm the action and check that your status has updated.

The RSA says rejoining places you back at the point when the last invitation expired. That is different from automatically returning to the very front of the queue, and it is also different from submitting a brand-new application.

What if the Rejoin option is missing?

First, check that you are looking at the correct driving-test goal and application. Review the My Messages section to confirm when the invitation was issued and whether the window has ended. Also confirm that your learner permit and training records are current.

If your status still does not make sense, use the RSA support details shown on the official website. Do not open another application simply because the button is not immediately visible. A duplicate application could make the situation harder to understand.

Will another invitation arrive automatically?

The RSA guidance tells learners whose previous invitation expired to select Rejoin Queue. Do not assume another email will be sent while the account remains outside the invitation list. Complete the rejoin step and then watch the email address associated with MyRoadSafety.

It is worth checking your spam or junk folder, but log in to MyRoadSafety rather than relying only on email. The account's My Messages area can show previous invitation activity.

Prepare before the next invitation

The next invitation will again have a limited window. Use the waiting time to decide which dates and test centres are practical. Speak to your Approved Driving Instructor, confirm the vehicle you will use and make sure your required training is properly recorded.

Can you still look for a short-notice test?

If you are eligible, MyRoadSafety may show limited short-notice appointments. The RSA says these slots are released every day and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. They cannot be booked over the phone or by email.

A short-notice test cannot be cancelled or rescheduled after booking, so it is not a good fallback unless you are ready and available. Read the official waiting-times and short-notice guidance before confirming one.
